Unemployment
Unemployment here in the Philippines does not only happen here but across the world. In the last recession in United States, the most powerful nation in the world, even experience unemployment to many of their people. According to statistics shown by the government of United States and the Philippines , unemployment rate is decreasing and progress to both country is improving. There are millions of unfilled job vacancies now in the U.S. compared to the last four years. Here in the Philippines, if people just are patient in finding job, they can all have a stable job for themselves.
Filipinos took up nursing for the past 10 years and became in demand course, but the promise of stable job abroad became impossible because of the recession and unstable economy of other countries. Now, I am unemployed together with thousands of nurses who cannot find job in line with our profession. Some nurses can be seen mostly in call center industries and some in business stores or companies, restaurants, medical representatives and even in memorial services. For we knew that for us to be successful, we need to work abroad to get a better living and a good salary, but now some of them lose hope that they will be successful in being a nurse. We cannot blame the government on this issue because it's our choice that we took up Nursing in the first place. The government even helped nurses by giving jobs in communities. It's just the motive of taking up Nursing to have a good salary is no longer achievable if we're in the community. Nurses here in the Philippines are only getting the minimum wage salary which is not sufficient for our needs.
